This Year's Project: Community Integration
About Our Organization
Crossroads of Western Iowa is a non-profit organization devoted to supporting adults in our community who, for various reasons, are unable to live completely on their own. Most have some sort of intellectual or physical disability, or are dealing with serious mental illness.
For over 40 years, our goal has been to teach our clients life skills and help attain independence. We provide residential options, programming and employment opportunities, so they can reach their full potential at home, at work and in their communities.
Our Mission is to empower individuals to actively seek out opportunities for an enhanced quality of life. We are devoted to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, chronic mental illness and brain injuries to reach their full potential at home, at work and in their communities.
Current Project: Community Integration
In order to enable our clients to practice social distancing and self-isolate as needed in Crossroads-supported homes, we have developed an enhanced day programming model. Your gift, whatever the size, will support our clients living with disabilities and/or traumatic brain injuries as they participate in community integration opportunities that will keep them safe and healthy at this unusual time.
Many of our clients participate in virtual interactions with community volunteers as part of our Across the Road program. For example, a client who loves the Harry Potter series is able to virtually connect with a volunteer with a similar love for the books. Together, they read at a selected time each week. Other interactions include virtual cooking classes, screen-to-screen time with the newest additions to the Humane Society, and a virtual fire station tour and Q&A with firefighters.
You can help further our mission to enhance the lives of those we serve by making a gift today.
