This Year's Project: Flood Recovery

About Our Organization

Sioux City Community Theatre has provided quality, live theatrical production in Siouxland since 1948. Our mission is to heighten community appreciation and participation in the performing arts through quality entertainment, volunteer, and educational opportunities. Along with our Main Stage productions, we produce several children’s shows through our Youth Theatre company, which exposes Siouxland children to classes, workshops, productions, and skill-building opportunities. Our historic facilities were once home to the Shore Acres Ballroom which was a 2006 inductee into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and played host to musical acts from Glenn Miller to Chubby Checker and the Beach Boys

Current Project: Flood Recovery

Our basement storage was devistated by flood waters. Costumes, furniture, and props have suffered approximately an 80 percent loss. We are currently at a standstill with any more recovery until we can get crews in to remove debris and clean up. We are looking to raise the funds to make the clean-up happen so that we can beging the long road of replacing all of the items that were lost.

  • Investing in Our Youth!

Funds will go towards supplies, i.e. royalties, costumes, scripts, and also directors for Winnie The Pooh and Peter Pan. Our youth need a safe and fun place to go and express themselves! SCCT offers a place where they can gain confidence and a better understanding of the arts! Thank you for supporting the youth of Siouxland at Your Sioux City Community Theatre!

  • Under Foot

    Project Details

We are in desperate need of new carpeting around the stage and in the isles of the auditorium. It is worn and frazzled and needs to go. After 35 years of heavy foot traffic I guess I'd be a little worn and frazzled too!

The photographs represent the two Youth Theatre productions in 2018-2019 season, "Dr. Cook's Garden" and Godspell." The 2019-2020 Youth Theatre season will begin with "The Wizard of Oz" and follow in 2020 with "The Little Princess."

Your support means additional scholarships, workshops, and other educational programming. We thank you for your assistance!

Our active Youth Theatre each year includes a number of classes, shows, and camps to keep young theater lovers engaged in the theatrical arts.

Each spring and fall, we offer a number of classes for youths age 5-18. Classes vary each season, but always include Theatre 101 courses, as well as classes focused on Shakespeare, voice, puppetry, playwriting and improv, among others.

In the fall and winter months, our Youth Theatre stage two shows.

Each summer, our Youth Theatre Camp brings hundreds of young people to the theater to learn about acting, directing, set building, props and costuming, and culminates in a show.

Sioux City Youth Theatre! What a wonderful opportunity for ALL.

The Sioux City Community has an  active Youth Theatre which each year includes classes, shows, and camps keeping young theater lovers engaged in the theatrical arts. Each spring and fall, we offer a number of classes for youths age 5-18. Classes vary each season, but always include Theatre 101 courses, as well as classes focused on Shakespeare, voice, puppetry, playwriting and improv, among others.

But, it takes funding to offer scholarships and opportunities. We want to make theatre a secure place for anyone. Please help us make theatre available for all.
